Regional Outbreaks of Severe Weather Through Early Next Week; Early Season Heat Wave across the South

Active spring pattern across the center of our nation with several episodes of severe weather and heavy rainfall expected into next week. The potential for very large hail, long track tornadoes, severe wind gusts, frequent cloud to ground lightning strikes and flash flooding are in the outlook. A group of 7 National Weather Service Louisville Meteorologists visited the TRIMARC Operations Center in Louisville on Wednesday January 22, 2020. Officials from KYTC District 5 were also part of the visit. After an informative presentation on TRIMARC's operations, capabilities, and partners the three agencies discussed ways to help each other out with respect to weather and travel concerns. The tour ended with a visit to the operations center where the group gained insight on what it takes to keep traffic moving as smoothly and safely as possible.
