Record Heat for the Intermountain West and Northern Plains; Heavy Rainfall and Severe Weather Threats

Record setting heat is expected over the next several days from the Intermountain West through the northern Plains. Furthermore, fire weather concerns increase with dry and breezy conditions. Meanwhile, heavy rainfall and severe thunderstorm threats for the Ohio/Tennessee Valleys, central Appalachians and Southeast today. A group of 7 National Weather Service Louisville Meteorologists visited the TRIMARC Operations Center in Louisville on Wednesday January 22, 2020. Officials from KYTC District 5 were also part of the visit. After an informative presentation on TRIMARC's operations, capabilities, and partners the three agencies discussed ways to help each other out with respect to weather and travel concerns. The tour ended with a visit to the operations center where the group gained insight on what it takes to keep traffic moving as smoothly and safely as possible. NWS Louisville enjoyed their visit to the facility and values their relationship with KYTC District 5 and TRIMARC!
