Heavy Rain and Flash Flooding Concerns in California; Heavy Snow in the Sierra

An atmospheric river will bring heavy rainfall to lower elevations of California this week, and heavy snow to the Sierra Nevada mountains. Flash flooding, some of which may be locally considerable, will be a concern on the western foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains through Tuesday. The annual CoCoRaHS March Madness competition is on and Nebraska wants to win the CoCoRaHS Cup! Help us
win this year by becoming or recruiting a new precipitation observer today!

CoCoRaHS is a dense network of volunteers who measure and report precipitation (rain, hail, and snow). The network
is made up of weather enthusiasts of all ages and backgrounds who send in daily observations from their homes, schools,
and businesses.

CoCoRaHS data is then used by a wide variety of organizations and individuals including meteorologists, hydrologists,
emergency managers, local media, city utilities (water supply, water conservation, storm water), insurance adjusters,
engineers, ranchers and farmers, teachers, students, and neighbors in your community.
