Lingering Winter Weather in Interior New England; Snow Squalls Developing Downwind of the Lower Great Lakes

A wintry mix will continue in interior New England through tonight as a coastal storm quickly passes to the east. Heavy snow is expected in northern Maine, with a coating of ice expected for much of interior New England. A cold front will move through the area Friday morning, resulting in gusty north winds of 20 to 30 mph, for 2 to 3 after frontal passage. Winds are expected to decrease slightly during the afternoon hours to 15 to 25 mph, with higher gusts.
Mild temperatures are expected today, with highs in the upper 60s to lower 70s. Cooler temperatures are forecast through the rest of the week into early next week, as a series of fronts move through the area.
