Record Warmth Lingers; Fire Weather Concerns; Unsettled Pacific Northwest

More record warm temperatures are forecast this week from California, Southwest, Plains then into the Mississippi Valley and Southeast. The warmth combining with dry conditions may result in elevated to locally critical fire weather conditions. Gusty west winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph will create choppy lake waters from 2 PM through 11 PM today on Pyramid Lake and Lahontan and Rye Patch Reservoirs. Check lake conditions before heading out and be prepared for a sudden increase in winds and wave heights. Consider postponing boating activities on the lake until a day with less wind.
