A Pacific storm is bringing areas of low elevation rain, moderate to heavy mountain snow, and high winds to the Northwest. Strong Santa Ana winds and very dry conditions are producing elevated to critical fire weather conditions in southern California. Ryan Knutsvig is our new Meteorologist-in-Charge (MIC). His first day in the office was Wednesday, June 23.
Ryan is a native of eastern North Dakota, and earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in Atmospheric Sciences from the University of North Dakota. He joined the National Weather Service in 2002, and has been stationed in Texas, North and South Dakota, Wyoming, Nevada, and Nebraska. He comes to our office after serving as the MIC at the NWS office in Grand Forks, ND.
