Regional Outbreaks of Severe Weather Through Early Next Week; Early Season Heat Wave across the South

Active spring pattern across the center of our nation with several episodes of severe weather and heavy rainfall expected into next week. The potential for very large hail, long track tornadoes, severe wind gusts, frequent cloud to ground lightning strikes and flash flooding are in the outlook. Ryan Knutsvig is our new Meteorologist-in-Charge (MIC). His first day in the office was Wednesday, June 23.

Ryan is a native of eastern North Dakota, and earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in Atmospheric Sciences from the University of North Dakota. He joined the National Weather Service in 2002, and has been stationed in Texas, North and South Dakota, Wyoming, Nevada, and Nebraska. He comes to our office after serving as the MIC at the NWS office in Grand Forks, ND.
