Regional Outbreaks of Severe Weather Through Early Next Week; Early Season Heat Wave across the South

Active spring pattern across the center of our nation with several episodes of severe weather and heavy rainfall expected into next week. The potential for very large hail, long track tornadoes, severe wind gusts, frequent cloud to ground lightning strikes and flash flooding are in the outlook. An outage of NOAA Weather Radio station KZZ-65 in Bloomington is scheduled for today, February 13th. Technicians will be relocating the equipment at the transmitter site. The outage time is expected to only be a few hours. The transmitter will remain in the same area (Nord Farms site near the I-55/ Market St. interchange in Bloomington), so no changes in service area are expected.

During the outage, broadcasts can be obtained from nearby stations:

De Witt County: WXJ-75 in Springfield (162.400 MHz) and WXJ-76 in Champaign (162.550 MHz)
McLean and Woodford Counties: WXK-24 in Odell (162.450 MHz) and WXJ-71 in Peoria (162.475 MHz)
Tazewell County: WXJ-71 in Peoria (162.475 MHz)
