Prolonged Atmospheric River Will Impact the Northwest Early this Week

A weather system in the Pacific Northwest will produce rain throughout the day, before a potent atmospheric river produces a prolonged round of heavy rainfall, widespread urban and river flooding, and high elevation snow to the region Monday through Wednesday. An outage of NOAA Weather Radio station KZZ-65 in Bloomington is scheduled for today, February 13th. Technicians will be relocating the equipment at the transmitter site. The outage time is expected to only be a few hours. The transmitter will remain in the same area (Nord Farms site near the I-55/ Market St. interchange in Bloomington), so no changes in service area are expected. 

During the outage, broadcasts can be obtained from nearby stations:

  • De Witt County:  WXJ-75 in Springfield (162.400 MHz) and WXJ-76 in Champaign (162.550 MHz)
  • McLean and Woodford Counties:  WXK-24 in Odell (162.450 MHz) and WXJ-71 in Peoria (162.475 MHz)
  • Tazewell County:  WXJ-71 in Peoria (162.475 MHz)
