Heat Persists in the South Central U.S. and Southwest; Heavy rains in the Desert Southwest and Central Plains

Sweltering heat remains across the South-Central Plains, Lower/Middle Mississippi Valley, and the Southwest this week with limited nighttime relief. Thunderstorms will bring heavy rainfall leading to localized flash flooding in portions of the Desert Southwest and central Plains. An outage of NOAA Weather Radio station KZZ-65 in Bloomington is scheduled for today, February 13th. Technicians will be relocating the equipment at the transmitter site. The outage time is expected to only be a few hours. The transmitter will remain in the same area (Nord Farms site near the I-55/ Market St. interchange in Bloomington), so no changes in service area are expected.

During the outage, broadcasts can be obtained from nearby stations:

De Witt County: WXJ-75 in Springfield (162.400 MHz) and WXJ-76 in Champaign (162.550 MHz)
McLean and Woodford Counties: WXK-24 in Odell (162.450 MHz) and WXJ-71 in Peoria (162.475 MHz)
Tazewell County: WXJ-71 in Peoria (162.475 MHz)
