Snow in the Rockies; Showers and Thunderstorms Along the Gulf Coast; Potential Winter Storm for Northern Mid-Atlantic and Interior New England

A winter-like pattern will continue over much of the Lower 48 over the next few days, with snow stretching from the Rockies today into the Middle Mississippi Valley on Monday. Showers and thunderstorms will develop along the Gulf Coast and Southeast on Monday. September 2021 Precipitation Highlights:

  • September was a dry month over much of central IL, except wetter than normal conditions were along and north of I-70 and south of I-72. Areas north of I-72 were generally 1 to 2 inches below normal for rainfall. Peoria only had 1.09 inches of rain during the month making it their 13th driest September. Tuscola was a wet spot with 6.23 inches having twice their normal rainfall during the month.

September 2021 Temperature Highlights:

  • September was a warmer than normal month across central and southeast IL, with much of the area 2 to 4 degrees warmer than normal.  Peoria had its 10th warmest September on record.
