Super Typhoon Bavi to Impact Guam and the Mariana Islands; Excessive Rainfall and Flooding Threat in the Mid-Atlantic

Catastrophic Super Typhoon Bavi's eyewall has reached Rota and is expected to bring dangerous winds, heavy rainfall and storm surge to Guam, Rota, Tinian and Saipan. November Precipitation Highlights:

Precipitation varied from well below normal for most of central IL, to above normal near and south of the I-70 corridor. Monthly deficits of 1.5-2 inches were common from Jacksonville to Danville which is the area that has most been impacted by drought since summer. Meanwhile southeast IL saw monthly surpluses of greater than one inch in several locations.

November Temperature Highlights:

In stark contrast to 2019, this November saw well above normal temperatures across the entire region. Average monthly temperatures were 3 to 5 degrees above normal for central and southeast IL.

Fall Season Overview

The fall season saw well below normal precipitation over most of central IL, though slightly above normal precipitation was reported over the northwest and southeast parts of the state. Deficits were as high as 3 inches from Springfield to Decatur, where moderate drought had been present during the fall. Little to no measureable snow was reported this season. Temperatures for the season ended up being very close to normal across the area.
