Fire Weather Concerns in the Southern Plains and Southeast; Pacific System to Bring Unsettled Weather to the West Coast

Gusty winds and dry conditions will continue to bring elevated to critical fire weather conditions to the southern Plains and Southeast early this week. A Pacific storm system will bring low elevation rain and heavy high elevation mountain snow to northern and central California through early week, expanding into the Pacific Northwest, Great Basin, and southern California on Tuesday. As we enter the Autumn season we will have a brief respite of cooler weather with a warmer period in the next 6 to 10 days. Below is a series of images and links from the Climate Predictions Center summizing the trends. After that 6 to 10 day period we wil return to a regularly scheduled fall of temperatures in a March towards winter.
