Fire Weather Concerns in the Intermountain West into the Plains

Hot, dry and windy conditions will result in one more day of critical fire weather conditions before the pattern turns cooler and unsettled Tuesday and beyond. For today, Red Flag Warnings are in effect for the lower elevations of northwest and west-central Colorado where fuels are critical. Winds could gust up to 45 mph this afternoon. Any fires will catch and spread quickly so exercise extreme caution. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
Another high temperature record was broken today in Grand Junction. Today's high of 80 degrees broke the previous record of 77 degrees set in 1943.
