Lake-effect Snow and Whiteout Conditions in the Great Lakes Region; Below-average Temperatures in the East

Heavy lake-effect and lake-enhanced snow will persist downwind of the Great Lakes and produce some whiteout conditions that could cause difficult travel conditions. A coastal low will produce moderate to heavy snow over parts of southern and eastern New England into the afternoon. The mission of the Grand Junction, Colorado, National Weather Service Forecast Office is to serve our partners and customers by accomplishing the following goals/gjt.

To do our best to protect life and property through the timely issuance of effective watches, warnings, and advisories of impending severe or hazardous weather conditions.
To prepare and issue useful weather and hydrology forecasts and climatological information.

We will work to accomplish these goals through quality in our products and our service/gjt.

We strive for quality in our products through a rigorous review of the format and content of the products, by their verification, and from customer feedback.
Quality in our services is achieved by our staff striving to conduct themselves in a knowledgeable, courteous, and professional manner at all times.

This mission is accomplished by providing warnings and forecast of hazardous weather, including thunderstorms, flooding, hurricanes, tornadoes, winter weather, and significant climate events. The NWS is the sole United States OFFICIAL voice for issuing warnings during life-threatening weather situations.
