Regional Outbreaks of Severe Weather Through Early Next Week; Early Season Heat Wave across the South

Active spring pattern across the center of our nation with several episodes of severe weather and heavy rainfall expected into next week. The potential for very large hail, long track tornadoes, severe wind gusts, frequent cloud to ground lightning strikes and flash flooding are in the outlook. Our Mission
The mission of the Grand Junction, Colorado, National Weather Service Forecast Office is to serve our partners and customers by accomplishing the following goals/gjt.
  • To do our best to protect life and property through the timely issuance of effective watches, warnings, and advisories of impending severe or hazardous weather conditions.
  • To prepare and issue useful weather and hydrology forecasts and climatological information.
We will work to accomplish these goals through quality in our products and our service/gjt.
  • We strive for quality in our products through a rigorous review of the format and content of the products, by their verification, and from customer feedback.
  • Quality in our services is achieved by our staff striving to conduct themselves in a knowledgeable, courteous, and professional manner at all times.

This mission is accomplished by providing warnings and forecast of hazardous weather, including thunderstorms, flooding, hurricanes, tornadoes, winter weather, and significant climate events. The NWS is the sole United States OFFICIAL voice for issuing warnings during life-threatening weather situations.
