Record Warmth Lingers; Fire Weather Concerns; Unsettled Pacific Northwest

More record warm temperatures are forecast this week from California, Southwest, Plains then into the Mississippi Valley and Southeast. The warmth combining with dry conditions may result in elevated to locally critical fire weather conditions. The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has identified an area of marginal severe weather threat across northeast Utah and northwest Colorado Friday afternoon. They indicated the potential for some thunderstorms firing along and ahead of an approaching cold front may be capable of generating wind gusts of 60 mph or higher and some hail. Storms may develop as early as noon, but the greatest coverage and intensity will be between 4-9 pm. Stay tuned for further updates on this potential severe weather threat.
