Cold Front Moving Through the Northeast U.S. Monday; Atmospheric River to Impact the Pacific Northwest Midweek

A cold front will cross the Great Lakes and Northeast U.S. through Monday with gusty winds and areas of rain showers. A strong atmospheric river is expected to move into the Pacific Northwest by midweek bringing a threat for moderate to heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and mountain snows for parts of Washington, Oregon, northern California, and the Sierra Nevada. The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has identified an area of marginal severe weather threat across northeast Utah and northwest Colorado Friday afternoon. They indicated the potential for some thunderstorms firing along and ahead of an approaching cold front may be capable of generating wind gusts of 60 mph or higher and some hail. Storms may develop as early as noon, but the greatest coverage and intensity will be between 4-9 pm. Stay tuned for further updates on this potential severe weather threat.
