Severe Weather Possible from the Central Plains to the Northeast; Building Heat in the West; Fire Weather Concerns for the Southwest

Severe thunderstorms will be possible from the central Plains to the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast on Monday. Hazardous heat will linger across the southern U.S. and build across the West through mid-week. The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has identified an area of marginal severe weather threat across northeast Utah and northwest Colorado Friday afternoon. They indicated the potential for some thunderstorms firing along and ahead of an approaching cold front may be capable of generating wind gusts of 60 mph or higher and some hail. Storms may develop as early as noon, but the greatest coverage and intensity will be between 4-9 pm. Stay tuned for further updates on this potential severe weather threat.
