Moke Impacts Hawaii; Severe Thunderstorms and Heavy Rainfall from the Great Basin to the Plains

Heavy rain and gusty winds from Tropical Storm Moke will impact the Big Island into Monday, risking life-threatening flooding and mudslides in windward and southeast areas. Severe thunderstorms are expected across the northern Rockies/Plains and northern Great Basin. Monsoonal moisture will stretch across the area for a second day, focusing precipitation over western Colorado. This will result in widespread light rain with locally heavy rain showers and isolated thunderstorms. Gusty outflow winds to 40 MPH and occasional lightning are expected, as well as an increased potential for mud and rock slides and localized flooding.
