Fire Weather Concerns in the Southern Plains and Southeast; Pacific System to Bring Unsettled Weather to the West Coast

Gusty winds and dry conditions will continue to bring elevated to critical fire weather conditions to the southern Plains and Southeast early this week. A Pacific storm system will bring low elevation rain and heavy high elevation mountain snow to northern and central California through early week, expanding into the Pacific Northwest, Great Basin, and southern California on Tuesday. Experimental HRRR Smoke Transport

Here is an experimental forecast model's output of smoke transport from the 416 Wildfire north of Durango. Areas of smoke and haze are expected today in portions of southwest Colorado. Winds are still on track to shift to the southwest late this morning/early this afternoon which will shift the projected smoke transport. Please take the necessary precautions if you are sensitive to smoke by minimizing outdoor activity.
