Sweltering heat remains across the South-Central Plains, Lower/Middle Mississippi Valley, and the Southwest this week with limited nighttime relief. Thunderstorms will bring heavy rainfall leading to localized flash flooding in portions of the Desert Southwest and central Plains. Experimental HRRR Smoke Transport

Here is an experimental forecast model's output of smoke transport from the 416 Wildfire north of Durango. Areas of smoke and haze are expected today in portions of southwest Colorado. Winds are still on track to shift to the southwest late this morning/early this afternoon which will shift the projected smoke transport. Please take the necessary precautions if you are sensitive to smoke by minimizing outdoor activity.
