Locally Heavy Rainfall for the Carolinas; Thunderstorms and Fire Weather Concerns for Intermountain West

Heavy rainfall from scattered thunderstorms is expected across the Southwest, Intermountain West, and Plains. Isolated dry thunderstorms may initiate additional fires across the west. The coastal Carolinas may experience flash floods in the coming days due to repeated thunderstorms. Experimental HRRR Smoke Transport

Here is an experimental forecast model's output of smoke transport from the 416 Wildfire north of Durango. Areas of smoke and haze are expected today in portions of southwest Colorado. Winds are still on track to shift to the southwest late this morning/early this afternoon which will shift the projected smoke transport. Please take the necessary precautions if you are sensitive to smoke by minimizing outdoor activity.
