Extreme Heat Continues; Severe Thunderstorms into Upper Midwest; Strong Bering Sea Storm

Wildfires and poor air quality continue for the Pacific Northwest, Rockies and extended into the Plains. Severe thunderstorms possible for the northern Plains and upper Midwest on Monday along a frontal boundary. Another boundary will focus showers and thunderstorms for the eastern seaboard with localized heavy rainfall possible. For Alaska, a strong Bering Sea storm will bring winds and rainfall. Experimental HRRR Smoke Transport

Here is an experimental forecast model's output of smoke transport from the 416 Wildfire north of Durango. Areas of smoke and haze are expected today in portions of southwest Colorado. Winds are still on track to shift to the southwest late this morning/early this afternoon which will shift the projected smoke transport. Please take the necessary precautions if you are sensitive to smoke by minimizing outdoor activity.
