Tracking Severe Thunderstorms and Excessive Rainfall in the Southern U.S.; Winter Storm to Impact the Northern U.S.

A storm system will shift from eastern Texas into the lower Mississippi Valley Monday with additional threats of severe thunderstorms and heavy to excessive rainfall which may bring flooding. Our latest official forecast will continue to trend colder and windier for Saturday, getting closer to 10th percentile, lower end potential, NBM (NWS National Blend of Models) for afternoon temperatures and 90th percentile, upper end potential, wind gusts for the same time.
Dry conditions along with afternoon temperatures in the upper 40s to mid 50s can be expected Thanksgiving Day.
Temperatures falling back into the single digits along with winds around 10 mph at times will result in wind chills around zero across portions of southwest Kansas Saturday night and Sunday night.
Winds across SW Kansas will be calm and pleasant this Thanksgiving. Into the weekend winds will increase and winds will be strong Saturday. If/where the northern counties see snow on Saturday, blowing snow may be a hazard. Winds Saturday may reach up to 40 mph.
