A Flood Watch is now in effect for all of Deep South Texas into Thursday morning, with estimated total rainfall amounts of 5-10 inches, and isolated amounts of 12 inches or more where heavier showers or thunderstorms persist.

Slow moving, heavy rainfall over the coming days will lead to increased risk for flash flooding across deep south Texas. We currently anticipate that most areas are likely to receive 5-10 inches of rain Monday through Wednesday, with localized amounts up to 12+ inches. Today, all of deep south Texas, and tomorrow, most of deep south Texas is under a MODERATE risk (Level 3 of 4) of excessive rainfall when NUMEROUS FLASH FLOODS are LIKELY. Tuesday and Wednesday, portions of deep south Texas are within a Slight Risk (level 2 of 4) of scattered flash flooding, and Wednesday there is a Marginal Risk (level 1 of 4) of isolated flash flooding.

An inland trough of low pressure is situated near the Texas/Mexico border, and is expected to re-emerge over the Gulf later today. Conditions are marginally conducive for tropical development late today or Wednesday, with a 60% chance in the next 48 hours to 7 days. Heavy rainfall and rip currents remain the main concern along the lower Texas coast. 🟠 Formation chance through 48 hours...medium...60 percent. 🟠 Formation chance through 7 days...medium...60 percent.

Heavy rain leading to flash flooding is likely across deep South Texas today and tomorrow. Forecast rainfall amounts over today and tomorrow are 3-6 inches widespread, with localized areas of 6-8 inches possible under areas that see repeated, heavy showers.
