There is a Marginal Risk (level 1 out of 4) of Excessive Rainfall for much Deep South Texas today through tonight. The heaviest rainfall is expected to fall across the northern ranchlands. Stay tuned for updates.

Tropical Storm Bertha, moving westward, with maximum sustained winds of 45 mph, is expected to make landfall along the Upper Texas coast this evening. Heavy rainfall is expected across the northern ranchlands into Friday with isolated flash flooding possible.

A Heat Advisory is in effect from 1 PM until 7 PM today for Zapata and Starr counties. Heat Index values up to 113 degrees are expected this afternoon.

A Moderate (Level 2 of 4) to Major (Level 3 of 4) Heat Risk continues into next week. Be sure to drink plenty of water if spending time outdoors and don't forget about your pets!

Passing showers and mostly cloudy skies are expected along the lower Texas coast today with a low risk of rip currents early and a moderate risk of rip currents by this evening into tonight.

Hot conditions will continue into next week with a medium (30-50%) chance of showers or isolated storms Friday. Be sure to practice heat safety - learn more at weather.gov/heat
