Extreme Fire Weather Concerns; Severe Thunderstorms from the Plains to Mississippi Valley

Extremely critical fire weather concerns for portions of the southern High Plans as strong wind and very dry conditions could result in rapid spread of any fires. Meanwhile, severe thunderstorms are expected once again across areas of the Central and Southern Plains, then spreading in the Mississippi Valley regions on Monday. There is a Moderate Risk of rip Currents today.

A Small Craft Advisory is in effect from 7 PM this evening through 1 AM Sunday. North winds 15 to 25 knots with gusts up to 30 knots and seas up 12 feet will be hazardous to small craft.

A High Risk of rip currents are expected to develop this evening, and a High Surf Advisory goes into effect at 1 AM Saturday morning.

A moderate risk of rip currents is expected at area beaches today. Partly sunny to mostly cloudy skies and warm conditions are forecast at local beaches today.
