...TORNADO DAMAGE IN THE CROSSVILLE AREA IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY...
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SURVEY HAS DETERMINED THAT A TORNADO OCCURRED IN THE CROSSVILLE AREA EARLY SUNDAY EVENING.
THE TORNADO TOUCHED DOWN AROUND 520 PM CDT ALONG TAYLORS CHAPEL ROAD...OR 4.1 MILES SOUTHWEST OF DOWNTOWN CROSSVILLE. NUMEROUS TREES WERE UPROOTED AND SNAPPED ALONG THE PATH. SOME HOMES SUSTAINED ROOF DAMAGE DUE TO FALLEN TREES. THE AREA THAT SUFFERED THE MOST DAMAGE EXTENDED FROM LOCKSLEY CIRCLE ROAD...NORTHEAST ACROSS BLACK OAK LANE AND ALONG OAK DRIVE.
THE TORNADO LIFTED JUST EAST OF THE INTERSECTION OF MYRTLE AVENUE AND FOURTH STREET...AND JUST SOUTHWEST OF THE CUMBERLAND COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL. THIS IS 9 TENTHS OF A MILE SOUTHWEST OF THE DOWNTOWN AREA.
THE TORNADO WAS RATED EF-1 WITH WINDS UP TO 100 MPH. PATH LENGTH WAS 3.2 MILES AND THE WIDTH UP TO 300 YARDS. NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED WITH THIS STORM.
