STORM DATA (Wayne County): Several homes damaged. The tornado continued into Perry County.

STORM DATA (Perry County): Some trees were down.

SHAMBURGER (2015): NCDC and Storm Data incorrectly list the narrative from the second long-track tornado that moved across Perry, Lewis, and Hickman Counties as this tornado, which has been corrected in this entry. In addition, radar data and aerial imagery from Google Earth show that this EF1 tornado began in extreme northeast Hardin County then moved northeast, clipping far northwest Wayne County west of Clifton where several homes were damaged. The tornado crossed the Tennessee River into extreme southeast Decatur County where it blew down dozens of trees. Crossing the Tennessee River back into Wayne County, the tornado continued to blow down hundreds of trees as it moved into southern Perry County before lifting around 2 miles northwest of the Flatwoods community. The path length, time, and location of the tornado have been corrected based on radar data and the damage path on Google Earth aerial imagery. Official NCDC and Storm Data records do not include the portions of this tornado track in Hardin and Decatur Counties.

STORM DATA (Benton County): The tornado came out of northern Benton County and caused damage in Houston County. Trees were uprooted and snapped, and homes were damaged along Highway 147 from the Tennessee River to just west-northwest of McKinnon. There were 20 power poles down on Danville Rd. Worst damage was from Big Sandy to Faxon to Grannys Branch. Fourteen homes were destroyed, and one other had major damage. About half of these homes were mobile homes.

STORM DATA (Houston County): Trees were down. Homes were damaged. TEMA reported 10 homes had major damage, 2 mobile homes were destroyed and 20 mobile homes had major damage.

SHAMBURGER (2015): Aerial imagery from Google Earth shows trees continued to be blown down for several miles into rural southern Stewart County before the tornado lifted, and radar data also indicates the tornado continued into southern Stewart County. Based on the radar data and damage path on Google Earth aerial imagery, the path length and location of this tornado were corrected in this entry.

STORM DATA (Perry County): Numerous trees were blown down in Perry County. This tornado continued into Lewis and Hickman Counties. TEMA reported this tornado destroyed 4 homes, and one mobile home in Perry County. STORM DATA (Lewis County): Across extreme northwest Lewis County, trailers were destroyed. Roofs were damaged. SHAMBURGER (2015): NCDC and Storm Data incorrectly list the narratives from the first tornado in southwest Perry County and the second tornado in eastern Hickman County as this tornado, which has been corrected here. In addition, NCDC and Storm Data incorrectly omit the 1 injury in the Brushy community. Radar data and aerial imagery from Google Earth indicate this long-track tornado touched down in southern Perry County between Boy Scout Road and Old Mount Olive Road, then tracked northeast across extreme northwest Lewis County into Hickman County before lifting 8 miles northeast of Centerville. The path length, path width, time and location of this tornado were corrected based on radar data and the damage path on Google Earth aerial imagery.

EF1 Stewart/Montgomery County Tornado
Counties: Stewart/Montgomery
Time: 8:55 PM CST
EF Scale: EF1
Damage Path Length: 8.11 Miles
Damage Path Width: 100 yards
Fatalities: 0
Injuries: 0
Damage:

STORM DATA (Stewart County): There were downed trees in Indian Mound. One home had roof damage and another home lost part of its vinyl siding and a swing set. One man was injured and treated on the scene for an eye injury.

STORM DATA (Montgomery County): Five houses were destroyed, and 8 mobile homes were damaged.

SHAMBURGER (2015): Although a NWS storm survey determined some of this wind damage was caused by straight-line winds, radar data and aerial imagery from Google Earth clearly indicate this damage was caused by an F1 tornado. This tornado started near Honey Fork Road in Stewart County then moved northeast into Montgomery County. The worst damage was along Indian Mound Road where several homes were damaged or destroyed. Crossing Highway 79, the tornado moved across Fort Campbell blowing down dozens of trees in a narrow swath before lifting north of Jordan Springs Road. Of note, the injury listed in Storm Data in Stewart County is believed to be from straight line winds and not this tornado.

STORM DATA (Hickman County): Some trees were down.

STORM DATA (Williamson County): Homes damaged in Leaper Fork area. One house collapsed and another hit on Cold Water Rd.

SHAMBURGER (2015): NCDC and Storm Data incorrectly list the narratives from the first tornado in Hickman County as well as the associated injury in the Brushy community as this tornado, which has been corrected here. Radar data and aerial imagery from Google Earth indicate this long-track EF2 tornado touched down near the Littlelot community east of the previous tornado track east of Centerville, then moved through Primm Springs before entering Williamson County. The tornado then passed around 3 miles southeast of Fairview in northwest Williamson County before lifting just east of the Natchez Trace Parkway near the Davidson County line. Homes were damaged near Fairview, with one house collapsed and another damaged on Coldwater Road. Hundreds of trees were blown down along the path. The path length, location, and time of this tornado were corrected based on radar data and the damage path on Google Earth.

Time: 10:02 PM CST
EF Scale: EF3
Damage Path Length: 50.32 Miles
Damage Path Width: 880 yards
Fatalities: 22
Injuries: 63
Damage:

STORM DATA: This powerful EF3 tornado touched down in southeastern Sumner County. The Castalian Springs Post Office was completely destroyed. There were 85 homes destroyed in Sumner County. Also in Castalian Springs, a 180 year-old structure called Wynnewood, lost the top of its structure due to the tornado. The historic log structure served as a stagecoach stop. The structure had 3 chimneys and was 142 feet long, making it the longest log structure in Tennessee. Officials say it would take 2 years and $6 million to restore Wynnewood. It is Sumner County's sole historic landmark. Also, 102 trees were lost in the area by the tornado. The 11-month-old son of Kerri Stowell survived the storm and was found miraculously unharmed in a field across the street from their home in Castalian Springs. Unfortunately, Kerri Stowell was killed in the tornado. The tornado directly killed 7 people in Sumner County, and there was one indirect fatality when Mr. Lampkin, age 63, died of a heart attack while seeking shelter in his home. There were 14 people injured in Sumner County. This tornado continued into Trousdale County, where it ripped apart a gas plant and caused a gas leak and fire at the Columbia Gulf Transmission Company at 5422 Green Grove Road in Hartsville, TN. The fire eventually burned itself out. Two people were killed, and 5 people were injured in Trousdale County. Ten homes were destroyed, and 23 homes had major damage. The tornado continued into Macon County, where Thirteen people were killed, and 44 folks were injured. Most of the fatalities occurred in Williams, just northwest of Lafayette. Also, 170 homes were destroyed, and 9 homes had major damage. There was one indirect fatality, a male 48 years of age, due to carbon monoxide poisoning in his home from a generator on Feb. 6, 2008. Pres. George W. Bush toured Macon County destruction on February 8th and promised relief to individuals. The logging industry in Macon County was hit hard. About a million dollars worth of trees were destroyed, which will take decades to replenish. It was estimated that the tornado outbreak did 10 million dollars worth of damage to trees in the state of Tennessee. One large brick home worth about 350 thousand dollars was poorly built. The bricks rested on cinder blocks that were not cemented. This was noticed on a storm survey. Schools were closed for over a week, and classes did not start again until Tuesday, February 19. FEMA spent 4.1 million dollars for housing displaced residents in trailers. The tornado continued into Kentucky where it moved across Monroe County before lifting in Cumberland County, KY.
