...STORM SURVEY OF DAMAGE IN BENTON COUNTY TENNESSEE FROM STORMS THAT OCCURRED YESTERDAY EVENING...
THIS MORNING...PERSONNEL FROM THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OFFICE IN NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE CONDUCTED A STORM SURVEY OF DAMAGE THAT OCCURRED AT SEVERAL LOCATIONS IN BENTON COUNTY.
FOUR SEPARATE AREAS OF DAMAGE WERE DISCOVERED. THE LOCATIONS...WHEN PLOTTED ON A MAP...FORM A NEARLY STRAIGHT LINE. OUR EXPERTS HAVE DETERMINED THAT THE DAMAGE IS CHARACTERISTIC OF AN F0 OR F1 TORNADO.
DETAILS OF THE DAMAGE:
AREA 1...DEPRIEST ROAD NEAR THE BENTON AND CARROLL COUNTY LINE. SEVERAL LARGE TREES UPROOTED OR SNAPPED.
AREA 2...NEAR THE INTERSECTION OF THOMPSON ROAD AND CLIFFORD HICKS ROAD. ROOF DAMAGE TO A HOUSE. SIDING RIPPED OFF. SEVERAL WINDOWS BLOWN OUT. CAR NEAR THE HOUSE TURNED UPSIDE DOWN. TWO FOOT DIAMETER TREES UPROOTED OR SNAPPED OFF. CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW ADDITION TO THE HOUSE MOVED OFF ITS FOUNDATION. GARBAGE CAN HURLED THROUGH A WINDOW.
AREA 3...AIRPORT ROAD SOUTH OF CAMDEN. ROOF DAMAGE TO 3 HOUSES. MANY LARGE TREES UPROOTED.
AREA 4...HIGHWAY 641 SOUTH OF CAMDEN. A SUBSTANTIAL BUILDING AT KING TRUCKING COMPANY WAS DESTROYED. (ROOF GONE...NO WALLS STANDING) ALSO...DEBRIS FROM THIS DAMAGE WAS FOUND 2 MILES EAST OF THE DAMAGE SITE.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OFFICE IN NASHVILLE TENNESSEE CONDUCTED A STORM SURVEY OF DAMAGE IN THE CITY OF GREENBRIER. IT APPEARS THE DAMAGE WAS DUE TO STRAIGHT LINE WINDS WITH GUSTS UP TO 70 MPH. THE THUNDERSTORMS STRUCK GREENBRIER AROUND 910 PM CDT SUNDAY APRIL 2.
A NUMBER OF LARGE TREES WERE UPROOTED OR BLOWN DOWN IN GREENBRIER. SOME OF THESE TREES LANDED ON HOMES AND MOBILE HOMES. SHINGLE DAMAGE TO ROOFS WERE OBSERVED ON SOME HOMES.
THE BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL FIELD AT GREENBRIER HIGH SCHOOL SUSTAINED DAMAGE. THE CINDER BLOCKS FROM TWO SOFTBALL DUGOUTS WERE BLOWN OUT. A LARGE SIGN WAS BLOWN DOWN AS WELL. THERE WAS NO STRUCTURAL DAMAGE TO THE HIGH SCHOOL ITSELF.
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE WOULD LIKE TO THANK MAYOR BILLY WILSON FOR HIS ASSISTANCE.

...STORM SURVEY OF DAMAGE IN LEBANON, TENNESSEE THAT OCCURRED FROM YESTERDAY`S SEVERE WEATHER EVENT...
THIS MORNING...TWO METEOROLOGISTS FROM THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OFFICE IN NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE CONDUCTED A STORM SURVEY OF DAMAGE THAT OCCURRED AT SEVERAL LOCATIONS IN THE CITY OF LEBANON IN WILSON COUNTY.
ONE TREE WAS BLOWN DOWN FROM STRONG STRAIGHT LINE WINDS ON A HOUSE AT THE INTERSECTION OF DAWSON LANE AND WEST SPRING STREET. THE ESTIMATED WIND SPEED WAS 60 MPH.
THE SCOREBOARD AT THE FOOTBALL FIELD AT CUMBERLAND UNIVERSITY WAS BENT OVER DUE TO STRONG STRAIGHT LINE WINDS ESTIMATED AT 60 MPH.
THREE MOBILE HOMES HAD A TREE BLOWN DOWN ON TOP OF EACH IN A SMALL MOBILE HOME PARK ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF WEBSTER STREET. WEBSTER STREET IS LOCATED OFF OF NORTH CUMBERLAND STREET ON THE NORTH SIDE OF LEBANON. STRAIGHT LINE WINDS WERE ALSO RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS DAMAGE...WITH AN ESTIMATED WIND SPEED OF 60 MPH.
EXTENSIVE DAMAGE OCCURRED ON THE WEST END OF THE FOOTBALL FIELD AT LEBANON HIGH SCHOOL...WHERE THE PRESS BOX WAS BLOWN OFF ITS SUPPORTS AND ONTO THE BLEACHERS. TO PRODUCE THIS KIND OF DAMAGE...WINDS WERE ESTIMATED AT 70 MPH.
