Cold Front Moving Through the Northeast U.S. Monday; Atmospheric River to Impact the Pacific Northwest Midweek

A cold front will cross the Great Lakes and Northeast U.S. through Monday with gusty winds and areas of rain showers. A strong atmospheric river is expected to move into the Pacific Northwest by midweek bringing a threat for moderate to heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and mountain snows for parts of Washington, Oregon, northern California, and the Sierra Nevada. A widespread significant wind storm began in western and north central Nebraska during the afternoon of July 8, and moved through southeast Nebraska and into Kansas early on the morning of July 9. This storm produced widespread wind damage with numerous reports of 60 to 80 mph winds, and a few pockets of even stronger wind! Widespread damage to trees, power lines, and crops was reported, along with some damage to homes and outbuildings as well. Some of the locations in southeast Nebraska that were hit particularly hard include Fairbury, Seward, Lincoln, and Wymore, with many other locations experiencing substantial damage too.
