A Pacific storm is bringing areas of low elevation rain, moderate to heavy mountain snow, and high winds to the Northwest. Strong Santa Ana winds and very dry conditions are producing elevated to critical fire weather conditions in southern California. A widespread significant wind storm began in western and north central Nebraska during the afternoon of July 8, and moved through southeast Nebraska and into Kansas early on the morning of July 9. This storm produced widespread wind damage with numerous reports of 60 to 80 mph winds, and a few pockets of even stronger wind! Widespread damage to trees, power lines, and crops was reported, along with some damage to homes and outbuildings as well. Some of the locations in southeast Nebraska that were hit particularly hard include Fairbury, Seward, Lincoln, and Wymore, with many other locations experiencing substantial damage too.
