NWS eMail Data Input System (EDIS) - Operational

The NWS eMail Data Input System (EDIS) is a procedure that allows designated meteorological data providers the capability to input weather bulletins to the National Weather Service Telecommunication Gateway (NWSTG) - also known as the Regional Telecommunication Hub (RTH), via eMail.

ISCS FTP Service (SSL VPN) - Operational

The ISCS Program Office has initiated a new service for transmitting meteorological data to the RTH-Washington as a replacement for the NWSTG FTP service on ISCS. The new service employs SSL VPN technology to allow computers at RA-IV National and Regional Centers to securely transmit files to the RTH using traditional File Transfer Protocol (FTP).

New ISCS File Transfer Service (FTPS)

The ISCS Program Office, in support of the international community of RA-IV Member States and other associated users, has initiated a new service for transmitting meteorological data to the Regional Telecommunications Hub (RTH)-Washington. The new FTPS adds support for the Transport Layer Security (TLS) and Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) cryptographic protocols that provides the added security. Member States may continue to use the RTH-Washington Email Data Ingest System (EDIS) as a backup service.

RTH-Washington will provide to Member States, at no cost, client software required for the transmission interface to the RTH FTPS server. Member States will have responsibility for all costs associated with maintaining a local Internet service to permit the FTPS connection.
