Regional Outbreaks of Severe Weather Through Early Next Week; Early Season Heat Wave across the South

Active spring pattern across the center of our nation with several episodes of severe weather and heavy rainfall expected into next week. The potential for very large hail, long track tornadoes, severe wind gusts, frequent cloud to ground lightning strikes and flash flooding are in the outlook. The National Weather Service is looking for a volunteer Cooperative Weather Observer in or within 5 miles of Meade. We will provide all the equipment, supplies and training necessary to collect daily temperature, precipitation and snowfall data. All you need is your willingness to collect weather information on a daily basis and a location to set up the equipment. The equipment comprises of a temperature sensor with a digital display unit and a standard rain gauge. If you are interested, please call (620)225-6514.
