Hawaii and Guam Concerns; Severe Weather for the Plains; Heavy Snow for Sierra-Nevada

Heavy rainfall capable of causing flash flooding will continue to impact Hawaii through Monday. Severe thunderstorms and heavy rain are possible in parts of Texas and the southern Plains and the Upper Great Lakes. The National Weather Service is looking for a volunteer Cooperative Weather Observer in or within 5 miles of Meade. We will provide all the equipment, supplies and training necessary to collect daily temperature, precipitation and snowfall data. All you need is your willingness to collect weather information on a daily basis and a location to set up the equipment. The equipment comprises of a temperature sensor with a digital display unit and a standard rain gauge. If you are interested, please call (620)225-6514.
