Record Heat for the Intermountain West and Northern Plains; Heavy Rainfall and Severe Weather Threats

Record setting heat is expected over the next several days from the Intermountain West through the northern Plains. Furthermore, fire weather concerns increase with dry and breezy conditions. Meanwhile, heavy rainfall and severe thunderstorm threats for the Ohio/Tennessee Valleys, central Appalachians and Southeast today. PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT

If you think today is cold you aint seen nothing!

On February 15, 1936, 87 years ago today, North Dakota had its
lowest temperature of record, 60 degrees below zero recorded in
Parshall, Mountrail County.

There was hope, even back then. The highest temperature of record
in North Dakota occurred just 5 months later, when on July 6,
1936, the temperature in Steele, Kidder County, soared to 121
degrees.
