...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 930 PM CDT
FOR BOURBON COUNTY...

At 912 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from 7 miles southeast of Fulton to Fort Scott to near
Redfield, moving east at 35 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail.

SOURCE...Weather Station. At 848 pm, a Kansas Mesonet station
         measured a 58 mph wind gust with the outflow ahead of the
         thunderstorms.

IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

Locations impacted include...
Fort Scott, Marmaton, Bronson, Uniontown, Fulton, Redfield, Harding,
Pawnee Station, Hiattville, Petersburg, Hammond, Devon, and Garland.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL IMPACT SOUTHEASTERN BOURBON...
NORTHEASTERN CRAWFORD...NORTHERN BARTON AND VERNON COUNTIES THROUGH
1000 PM CDT...

At 910 PM CDT, the public reported strong thunderstorms along a line
extending from near Schell City to 8 miles west of Nevada to 7 miles
west of Arcadia. Movement was southeast at 40 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea size hail.

SOURCE...At 848 pm, a Kansas Mesonet station reported a 58 mph wind
         gust with the gust front ahead of the line of thunderstorms.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
         possible.

Locations impacted include...
Prairie State Park, Nevada, Arma, Liberal, Sheldon, Mulberry,
Mindenmines, Franklin, Montevallo, Arcadia, Walker, Schell City,
Bronaugh, Moundville, Richards, Milo, Deerfield, Irwin, Burgess, and
Metz.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for south central Nebraska and
portions of north central Kansas.

.DAY ONE...Tonight.

Isolated showers and thunderstorms will continue to be possible
along an outflow boundary drifting northwest to southeast across
the region this evening into tonight.

A second line of scattered to widespread showers and storms will
move through the area around or after midnight. The overall
threat for severe weather is low, but the strongest storms could
still produce localized damaging wind and hail along with heavy
downpours. The primary risk area is west of Highway 281.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday.

Periodic thunderstorm chances return to the outlook area Tuesday
through Thursday, although details on exact timing and severity
remain uncertain.

  Marginal thunderstorm wind damage risk.
  Elevated lightning risk.
  Elevated excessive rainfall risk

DISCUSSION...

Strong to marginally severe storms capable of producing wind
gusts up to 60 mph and small hail will be possible northwest of a
Pittsburg, KS to Osage Beach line this evening and tonight. Slow-
moving or repeated storms will pose the risk of isolated flash
flooding.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday.

There is a Marginal risk for severe thunderstorms on Saturday and
Sunday. Damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph will be the primary
hazard, with hail up to the size of quarters as a secondary risk.
Repeated storms will also pose the risk of localized flash
flooding.

Active summertime weather continues next week with daily
thunderstorm chances in the afternoons and evenings.

Heat indices are expected to climb to around 100 this afternoon
across much of the area.

Thunderstorm chances will persist through the weekend and into much
of next week. A few strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible
