...SEVERE WEATHER POSSIBLE INTO THE OVERNIGHT HOURS TONIGHT...
This Outlook is for Northwest and West Central Arkansas as well as
much of Eastern Oklahoma.
.DAY ONE...This Afternoon and Tonight.
TORNADO.
RISK...Elevated.
AREA...Primarily northwest of Interstate 44.
ONSET...After 10 PM.
SEVERE THUNDERSTORM.
RISK...Elevated.
AREA...Eastern Oklahoma and Northwest Arkansas.
ONSET...Mainly after 6 PM.
SIGNIFICANT WINDS.
RISK...Limited.
AREA...Eastern Oklahoma and Northwest Arkansas.
ONSET...Ongoing.
DISCUSSION...
Weather conditions will become increasingly favorable for severe
weather this afternoon and into the overnight hours. A warm front
will lift northward into the region and provide a focus for late
afternoon or early evening storms. Additionally, storms are likely
to develop across western Oklahoma and spread east and northeast
into the late night hours. Any storms which develop either this
afternoon or spread into the area late tonight will pose a risk
of severe weather including large hail, locally damaging winds,
and tornadoes. The risk of late night tornadoes is most likely
to focus along and northwest of Interstate 44. The largest
uncertainty remains the overall coverage of storms through
tonight, however weather conditions will support the risk of
significant severe weather and weather conditions should be
closely followed through tonight.
SPOTTER AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ACTION STATEMENT...
Activation of the Regional Spotter Network Possible.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Monday through Saturday.
MONDAY...Thunderstorm and High Wind Potential.
TUESDAY...Severe Thunderstorm Potential.
WEDNESDAY...No Hazards.
THURSDAY and FRIDAY...Thunderstorm Potential.
SATURDAY...No Hazards.
EXTENDED DISCUSSION...
The cold front moves into the region Monday and slows across
far eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas through Tuesday before
finally pushing southeast Wednesday. Storm chances as well
as additional severe weather potentials continue Monday and
Tuesday. The greater storm and severe potential current exist
Tuesday, south of the front across southeast Oklahoma into western
Arkansas. A lull in storm chances is forecast Wednesday, however
storm chances increase again for the latter part of the week with
the approach of another storm system.
