...ELEVATED RISK OF WILDFIRE SPREAD LATE THIS MORNING THROUGH
EARLY THIS EVENING...
The combination of drying fine fuels and leaf litter, low
relative humidity of 25 to 35 percent and a moderately gusty
northwest wind of 15 to 20 mph, will create an elevated risk of
wildfire spread across the southern half of Pennsylvania today.
Residents are urged to exercise caution if handling any potential
ignition sources, such as machinery, cigarettes, or matches. If
dry grasses and tree litter begin to burn, the fire will have the
potential to spread rapidly.
For more information about wildfire danger and wildfire
prevention and education, please visit the Pennsylvania Department
of Conservation and Natural Resources website at

There is an elevated risk for fire spread today across southern
Connecticut. Northwest winds will gust to 25 to 30 mph while
relative humidity falls to 25 to 30 percent. These conditions,
along with continued drying of fine fuels, could support the rapid
spread of any fires that ignite, which could quickly become
difficult to control. Conditions should improve this evening as
winds diminish and relative humidity increases.
Relative humidity on Sunday should fall to 30 to 40 percent.
South winds may gust as high as 20 mph in the afternoon.
Use caution when handling any potential ignition sources,
including machinery, cigarettes and matches.
The forecast considers meteorological, fuel, and land conditions,
and has been developed in coordination with state fire and land
management officials.

...ELEVATED RISK FOR FIRE SPREAD TODAY...
There is an elevated risk for fire spread today across southeastern
Pennsylvania. Minimum relative humidity values will drop to
around 25 to 35 percent this afternoon. This will be accompanied
by northwesterly winds with gusts up to 20-25 MPH. These
conditions, along with the continued drying of fine fuels, could
support the rapid spread of any fires that ignite, which could
quickly become difficult to control. Conditions improve during the
evening as the wind diminishes and the relative humidity
increases.
Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged. Be sure to properly
extinguish or dispose of any potential ignition sources, including
smoking materials such as cigarette butts.
This forecast considers meteorological, fuel, and land conditions
and has been developed in coordination with state fire officials.

...ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER POTENTIAL TODAY IN WESTERN MASSACHUSETTS
AND NORTHWESTERN CONNECTICUT...
The combination of northwest winds gusting up to 25 to 35 mph,
relative humidity values as low as 35 percent, and a lack of
significant rainfall over the past few days will lead to an
elevated fire weather potential today, with the greatest potential
late this morning into this afternoon.

...ELEVATED RISK FOR FIRE SPREAD TODAY...
The combination of northwesterly wind gusts up to 25 to 35 mph,
minimum relative humidity values between 30 and 35 percent and
drying fuels following a period of overnight rain will contribute
to an elevated risk for fire spread on Saturday for portions of
the Catskills and Hudson Valley. The lowest relative humidity
values and strongest winds will occur during the late morning
through mid afternoon hours.
As a reminder, the annual statewide burn ban is in effect until
May 14. No burn permits are issued. Use extra caution if handling
any potential ignition sources such as machinery or matches, and
ensure to properly extinguish or dispose of cigarette butts.
Please refer to the New York State Department of Environmental
Conservation web site for more information on burn restrictions.
