...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE TONIGHT...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
  possible. Rainfall amounts between 2 and 3 inches, with locally
  higher amounts are expected this morning. Additional heavy
  rainfall is expected this afternoon and evening.

* WHERE...Portions of central, northeast, and south central Iowa,
  including the following counties, in central Iowa, Dallas, Grundy,
  Jasper, Marshall, Polk, Poweshiek and Tama. In northeast Iowa,
  Black Hawk. In south central Iowa, Madison, Mahaska, Marion and
  Warren.

* WHEN...Through late tonight.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
  creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

central Nebraska.

.DAY ONE...This afternoon and tonight.

Strong to briefly severe thunderstorms are possible late this
afternoon into tonight, south of a line from Alliance through
Valentine. Strong wind gusts and hail up to 1 inch diameter is
possible with the strongest storms. Locally heavy rainfall is also
possible across the southeast Panhandle and southwest Nebraska,
where coverage of storms is expected to be greatest.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday.

Periodic thunderstorm chances return to the outlook area Tuesday
through Thursday. Severe weather potential is uncertain.

area mainly along and east of Highway 281.

Additional thunderstorm chances return to the entire outlook area
this evening and tonight. Some storms may be strong to severe,
with damaging wind gusts and very heavy rainfall being the main
threats, though large hail will be possible with any storm that
can maintain its strength.

Periodic thunderstorm chances return to the outlook area Tuesday
through Thursday. Too many uncertainties remain to be able to

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

Flood Watch for Flash Flooding between US Highways 34 and 20
through 7AM CDT this morning. Widespread rainfall totals between 2
and 3 inches with locally higher amounts.

Flood Watch for Flash Flooding for the remainder of the day
Friday from the Waterloo through Corydon areas and points east for
another round of heavy rainfall this afternoon and evening.

Scattered Severe Thunderstorms this afternoon and evening
across portions of central Iowa (risk level 2 out of 5). Damaging
winds and a tornado or two are the primary threats in addition to
heavy rain.


.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday

Scattered thunderstorms Saturday. Severe weather is not expected.

Thunderstorms return to the forecast Tuesday and Wednesday across
central Iowa.
