* WHAT...Dangerous swimming conditions are expected along the
  Lake Superior shoreline due to high wave action and strong rip
  currents.

* WHERE...Minnesota Park Point and Wisconsin Point Beaches.

* WHEN...From 10 AM CDT this morning through this evening.

* IMPACTS...High wave action can make swimming difficult on days
  such as this. Incoming waves in rapid succession can tire even
  an experienced swimmer quickly. Rip currents can usher you away
  from land. To avoid being swept away, swim parallel to the shore
  to exit a rip current.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Wave heights and rip current risk is
  expected to linger through late this evening.

A few storms may occur through this afternoon, mainly north of
Highway 30. A few of the storms this afternoon could be severe
with gusty winds or hail possible.

The next widespread chance for storms will start in the west later
Friday evening and spread across Iowa overnight Friday with
chances continuing through Saturday and into Sunday. Currently,

Iowa, southwest Minnesota, northeast Nebraska, central South

Isolated showers and storms through mid morning east of I-29 and
south of I-90. A strong storm or two could produce half dollar sized
hail and 60 mph wind gusts.

Hot and humid today with temperatures and heat index values in the
upper 90s to 100. Take precautions to prevent heat illness if
spending time outdoors.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday.

Periodic storm chances continue into early next week, with the
highest chances after 5 PM on the 4th of July 4th through Saturday
evening.

Although severe risk is low, a stronger storm Independence Day and
Saturday could produce 60 mph wind gusts.

Swim Risk for Lake Superior beaches in the Twin Ports.

Additional periods of thunderstorms are possible Friday morning into
this weekend. Some of these storms could become strong to severe
Friday late afternoon into Friday night and again Saturday
afternoon and evening. Periods of heavy rainfall could also lead

The main story today is the heat and humidity. Central to north
central South Dakota will have temperatures up around 100 degrees.
Across parts of north central over to the northeast, temperatures
top out in the 90s, but with higher humidity and thus heat index
values in the 90s to around 100. A heat advisory is in effect for
portions of the area.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday.

There is a marginal risk (category 1 of 5) for severe storms Friday
afternoon and evening from the Missouri valley and points east. Main
threats are localized wind gusts and heavy rainfall.
