  power outages and tree damage due to the ice. Travel could quickly
  become nearly impossible. Due to the increasing wind on Monday,
  additional tree damage and power outages are possible. People
  should prepare for power outages to potentially last for several
  days along with extreme cold.

* IMPACTS...Significant ice accumulation on power lines and tree
  limbs may cause widespread and long-lasting power outages. Travel
  could be treacherous. The hazardous conditions could impact the
  Monday morning commute.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Persons should consider delaying all travel. If travel is absolutely
necessary, drive with extreme caution. Consider taking a winter
storm kit along with you, including such items as a flashlight,

...A BAND OF FREEZING RAIN AND SLEET BETWEEN NOW AND 11 PM...

A band of moderate to heavy freezing rain and sleet will continue
to push east, impacting Raleigh, Fayetteville, Rocky Mount, and
areas along and east of Highway 1. Ice accumulation of a tenth to
two tenths of an inch may accumulate on roads, bridges,
overpasses, and sidewalks, resulting in extremely hazardous road
conditions. Additionally, reduced visibilities can be expected in
pockets of heavy sleet.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Avoid driving. If you must drive, drive cautiously and leave plenty of
space between you and the car ahead of you. If you must go out,
wear shoes with good traction, take short steps, and watch for
falling branches or downed power lines.

Temperatures continue to hover between 30 and 32 for western
portion of Duplin, Lenoir, Green, Pitt, and Martin counties early
this evening. As the night goes on, temperatures will rise above
freezing and the sleet and freezing rain will turn to rain before
ending by sunrise. Temperatures should rise above freezing after
