...INCREASED FIRE DANGER TODAY FROM 3 PM TO 10 PM...
The combination of dry fuels, low relative humidity around 25 to
30 percent, and wind gusts up to 20 to 30 mph will lead to an
increased risk for the rapid spread of wildfires today across the
Piedmont and Sandhills of central North Carolina.
People in this area are urged to properly dispose of cigarette
butts, matches, and any other flammable items in appropriate
containers. Additionally, exercise caution if operating any
equipment that could create sparks, and keep vehicles off of dry
grass. Most dry grasses, dead leaves, and other tree litter could
easily ignite and spread fire quickly.
Lastly, remember to obey local burn bans. For more information about
wildfire danger, burn restrictions, and wildfire prevention and
education, please visit the North Carolina forestry or environmental
protection website.

...INCREASED FIRE DANGER THIS AFTERNOON AND EARLY EVENING...
Dry brush and leaf litter have become very dry in recent days due
to breezy conditions and low relative humidity. These conditions
are forecast again today. Relative humidity will fall below 30
percent for much of the afternoon and evening hours, and wind
gusts may reach 25 to 30 mph at times. Given the dry vegetation,
outdoor fires will be able to spread quickly once started,
increasing the danger of wildfires.
Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities on whether
you can burn today. If you do burn, use extreme caution since
fires can quickly get out of hand under these conditions.

...INCREASED FIRE DANGER THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH THIS EVENING...
The combination of relative humidities falling near or below 30
percent, northerly wind gusts up to 25-30 mph, and dry fine fuels
will create increased fire danger conditions across parts of the
northern and western Midlands. Given the dry vegetation and
increased winds outdoor fires will have the potential to spread
quickly, increasing the danger of wildfires.
Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities on whether
you can burn today. If you do burn, use extreme caution as fires
can quickly get out of control under these conditions.
