* WHERE...Seward.

* WHEN...Until 1000 AM AKDT Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
  and flood-prone locations is expected.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 1042 AM AKDT, moderate rain is falling in Seward and

    up on Monday. Total rainfall amounts through Monday afternoon

    debris from the Resurrection River.
  - Water levels will crest Monday morning through Monday
    afternoon, then quickly begin to fall Monday night through

534 PM AKDT Sun Jul 19 2026

...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM 4 AM AKDT MONDAY THROUGH MONDAY
EVENING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
  possible.

* WHERE...The following areas, Anchorage Bowl and Eagle River. This
  includes the cities of Anchorage, Eagle River, Eklutna, and Indian.

* WHEN...From 4 AM AKDT Monday through Monday evening.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
  creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
  Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur
  in poor drainage and urban areas. Water levels on the Chester and
  Campbell Creeks will remain elevated through Tuesday morning.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - Around one inch of rain has already fallen across the
    Anchorage Bowl as of Sunday afternoon. The steady rainfall
    continuing across West Anchorage and JBER as of 5pm is likely
    (60-70%) to taper off to a very light rain or sprinkles by
    later this evening. A second round of moderate to heavy rain
    is then likely (80-90%) to develop just in time for the
    Monday morning commute through Monday evening before tapering
    off. An additional 0.50" to 1" of rain is likely (70-80%)
    with a low chance (10-20%) of amounts exceeding 1". This
    second round of rain on top of already saturated ground may
    lead to further ponding of water on area roads, localized
    urban flooding, and increased water levels for area creeks
    and streams. Additional rainfall may also lead to rockfalls
    along the Seward Highway south of Anchorage.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood
Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared

...Potential Bering Sea Low Late This Week...

We are monitoring the potential for a coastal storm around
Thursday of this week. There is high uncertainty with the track of
the storm as it could be anywhere from the Yukon Delta to Bering
Strait. Fortunately, it doesn`t appear to be a storm that would
come with major impacts. However, there is a chance for minor
coastal impacts and high surf due to gusty southeast winds during
the first half of the storm, then west-northwest winds as the low
passes through. We will continue to update as necessary
throughout the week.

...GLACIAL DAMMED LAKE RELEASE LEADING TO SIGNIFICANT RISES ALONG
THE KENNICOT RIVER NEAR MCCARTHY...

Local reports and river gage data indicate a glacier dammed lake
release on the Kennicott River near McCarthy. Water levels on the
Kennicott are currently rising and will continue to rise over the
next 24-48 hours, cresting at or prior to Monday evening.

At this time, the river is expected to crest below minor flood
stage. Widespread flooding is not anticipated, although the
following hazards will be present:

-Significant water level rises (feet/day)
-Bank erosion: Fast moving water may undercut riverbanks
-Debris: Increased flow can carry large debris, including trees and
wood

Recreationalists, hikers and packrafters in the McCarthy area and
along the Kennicott River should exercise extreme caution. Avoid
parking vehicles and camping near the immediate riverbanks. Do not
attempt to cross fast flowing water.

...SIGNIFICANT RAINFALL THROUGH MONDAY NIGHT WILL BRING RIVER RISES
AND LOCALIZED FLOOD POTENTIAL TO THE SUSITNA VALLEY...

 * Yentna, Skwentna and Susitna River basins

 * Tonight through Monday Night

Rainfall:

* Widespread rainfall of 1.5 to 2.5 inches of rain is expected in
  the Susitna Valley through Monday Night.

Hydrologic Concerns:

* Expect sharp rises on many small streams and rivers. Crests are
  expected to occur late Monday night into Tuesday for most streams
  and rivers, including the Yentna at Lake Creek.

* Many lower locations along rivers such as gravel bars and other
  spots popular for camping and recreating may become inundated with
  water with rivers reaching bankfull conditions.

* Heavy rain may result in localized ponding in low-lying areas and
  locations with poor drainage.

Next Steps:

* Residents along area streams as well as river users and recreators
  should anticipate higher than normal water levels and are advised
  to monitor weather and river forecasts.

* Send weather or flooding reports to inws.ncep.noaa.gov/report/ or
  by calling 1-907-266-5127.

* Reports on river conditions may be sent to the river forecast
