SATURDAY NIGHT...

* WHAT...Northeast winds 25 to 45 mph with gusts of 50 to 60 mph
  expected.

* WHERE...Lower Matanuska Valley.

* WHEN...From 4 AM Saturday to midnight AKDT Saturday Night.

* IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects and a few
  power outages may result.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Northeast winds are expected to increase by
  early Saturday morning. Wind gusts of 50 to 60 mph are likely,
  though isolated gusts higher than 60 mph will be possible. The
  strongest winds are expected near and to the north of Palmer. For
  areas west of Wasilla, winds will be gusty but lighter. Winds are
  expected to decrease early Sunday morning. Looking ahead, winds
  may return the Matanuska Valley Tuesday into Wednesday. Plan ahead
  and continue to monitor the forecast for updates.

...BANDS OF MODERATE TO HEAVY SNOW TO CONTINUE ACROSS PORTIONS OF
KODIAK ISLAND THROUGH THIS EVENING...

A compact area of low pressure east of Kodiak Island will continue
to push bands of moderate to heavy snow showers across the region
through this evening. The heaviest snow showers are likely to
occur across the northeast part of the island, including Kodiak
City. Expect visibility to drop to as low as one half mile at
times. Gusty northwest winds may also result in localized areas of
blowing and drifting snow. Two to four inches of snow is possible
in areas of persistent snow bands.

...SCATTERED SNOW SHOWERS CONTINUE THROUGH FRIDAY...

Snow showers will continue to impact the region through Friday
with variable forecast snow accumulations of 1 to 4 inches of
heavy wet snow, locally higher amounts are possible. Due to the
showery nature of the snow, accumulations will be highly variable
across the area with expected periods of melting in sunny breaks.
A band of heavier snow showers expected to push through the
northern and central panhandle by Friday afternoon into the
evening, with locally higher accumulations possible. Visibilities
will be quickly reduced to 1 mile or less with snowfall rates as
high as 1 inch per hour within any heavier snow showers.
