OF THE MISSOURI BASIN TO ABOVE AVERAGE ACROSS THE SOUTHERN PORTION.
STREAMFLOW DATA INDICATES THE FLOWS FOR AUGUST WERE BELOW AVERAGE.

PRECIPITATION IN MONTANA WAS BELOW AVERAGE WITH AMOUNTS RANGING
FROM 0 PERCENT OF AVERAGE (0.00 IN.) AT PRYOR 3E, MONTANA TO
315 PERCENT OF AVERAGE (3.46 IN.) AT BIDDLE, MONTANA. PRECIPITATION
IN WYOMING WAS GENERALLY NEAR AVERAGE. REPORTS RANGED FROM 17
PERCENT OF AVERAGE (0.08 IN.) AT WORLAND 12N, WYOMING
TO 352 PERCENT OF AVERAGE (2.57 IN.) AT CASPER, WYOMING.
PRECIPITATION IN NORTHEASTERN COLORADO WAS ABOVE AVERAGE, WITH
REPORTS RANGING FROM 41 PERCENT OF AVERAGE (1.10 IN.)
AT NIWOT, CO TO 257 PERCENT OF AVERAGE (3.60 IN.) AT FORT COLLINS,
COLORADO.

August 2007 Basin Mean Precipitation

 

OF THE FOUR MAJOR IRRIGATION RESERVOIRS IN MONTANA, LIMA
RESERVOIR HAD 34 PERCENT AVERAGE STORAGE; CLARK CANYON WAS
HOLDING 51 PERCENT OF AVERAGE WATER, GIBSON RESERVOIR HAD
15 PERCENT OF AVERAGE STORED WATER AND FRESNO RESERVOIR HAD
95 PERCENT OF AVERAGE STORED WATER. OF THE THREE MAJOR
HYDROELECTRIC RESERVOIRS IN MONTANA, CANYON FERRY AND FORT
PECK HAD MONTHEND STORAGE IN THE AVERAGE RANGE; 93 AND 55
PERCENT OF AVERAGE WATER, RESPECTIVELY. BIGHORN RESERVOIR
WAS HOLDING 103 PERCENT OF AVERAGE STORED WATER.

 

RUNOFF DURING AUGUST, AS INDICATED BY U.S. GEOLOGICAL SURVEY LONG
TERM GAGING STATIONS, WAS BELOW AVERAGE. THE MARIAS RIVER NEAR
SHELBY, MONTANA HAD 20 PERCENT OF AVERAGE RUNOFF. THE YELLOWSTONE
RIVER WAS ESTIMATED TO HAVE HAD 49 PERCENT OF AVERAGE RUNOFF AT
CORWIN SPRINGS, WHILE AT BILLINGS, MONTANA RUNOFF WAS 38 PERCENT OF
AVERAGE.
