Lunar Eclipse Does Not Disappoint

	Perfect viewing conditions, including clear skies, pleasant temperatures and light winds, combined with an early morning lunar eclipse to bring delight to both professional and novice sky gazers alike. The lunar eclipse, which began at 3:51 am Tuesday, August 28, 2007, peaked at 5:37 am, and ended at 7:24 am, brought one of the best visual lunar eclipses in recent memory. At mid totality the moon turned a VERY dark blood-red color (as can be seen on the right side of the picture below). Below is a composite image of the moon's transition to totality during the lunar eclipse on the early morning hours of Tuesday, August 28, 2007. The images were taken, from left to right, at 10:08 pm on the 27th, 4:19 am, 4:38 am, 4:52 am, 5:01 am and 5:20 am on the 28th. The photos were taken by Todd Lindley from Lubbock.

	The above images were shot with a Canon Digital Rebel DSLR (300D) hand held to the eyepiece of a Celestron 3 inch telescope. For those of you who missed the eclipse, another total lunar eclipse will occur during the evening on February 21, 2008.
