Tropical Depression Two is expected to gradually strengthen and could bring tropical storm conditions to the Florida Panhandle beginning late Monday. Areas of flash flooding will be possible through Thursday along the eastern and central Gulf Coast. A cold front dropping south and an upper-level disturbance moving out of the Southern Rockies combined to bring widespread rainfall to most of the South Plains region Wednesday and Thursday. As of 2 pm Thursday, nearly two inches of rain had fallen in spots while 0.5 to 1.0 inch of rain was fairly common. Temperatures were also very cool, many areas were only in the 50s early Thursday afternoon with brisk northerly winds. Here are the latest West Texas Mesonet rainfall reports (www.mesonet.ttu.edu):
