PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT
..SIGNIFICANT RAIN CHANCES DECREASING THROUGH THE DAY: THE UPPER LOW THAT HAS BROUGHT SIGNIFICANT RAINS TO THE SOUTH PLAINS REGION IS EXPECTED TO SLIDE EASTWARD TODAY. THERE IS STILL A CHANCE FOR SCATTERED SHOWERS AND MAYBE A COUPLE THUNDERSTORMS THROUGH THE DAY BUT WIDESPREAD RAINFALL DOES NOT APPEAR LIKELY. AMOUNTS TODAY...WHERE IT DOES RAIN...WILL BE MUCH LOWER WITH THE LOSS OF A DIRECT TAP TO THE GULF OF MEXICO. RAINFALL AMOUNTS HAVE BEEN SIGNIFICANT ACROSS THE REGION WITH A LARGE PORTION OF REPORTING STATIONS INDICATING RAINFALL AMOUNTS IN EXCESS OF 1 INCH. SEVERAL LOCATIONS EVEN TOPPED OUT OVER 3 INCHES. SOME FLOODING OCCURRED ON THE SOUTH PLAINS MAINLY AROUND LUBBOCK WITH A FEW MOTORISTS STALLING THEIR VEHICLES IN DEEP WATER. A LESSON TO ALL...DONT DRIVE INTO WATER OF AN UNKNOWN DEPTH. DOING THIS RESULTED IN 2 DEATHS IN THE SAN ANTONIO AREA.
