Prolonged Atmospheric River Will Impact the Northwest Early this Week

A weather system in the Pacific Northwest will produce rain throughout the day, before a potent atmospheric river produces a prolonged round of heavy rainfall, widespread urban and river flooding, and high elevation snow to the region Monday through Wednesday. Accumulating snow returns this evening through Friday evening across the region. Most of the Northland will see light amounts (< 1"), but the South Shore could see more due to lake enhancement. Dropping temperatures and wind chills are expected, with coldest wind chills as low as -35°F Friday night into Saturday morning. Frostbite can occur quickly on exposed skin at these temperatures. Limit time outdoors, cover exposed skin, and bring pets inside.
