Regional Outbreaks of Severe Weather Through Early Next Week; Early Season Heat Wave across the South

Active spring pattern across the center of our nation with several episodes of severe weather and heavy rainfall expected into next week. The potential for very large hail, long track tornadoes, severe wind gusts, frequent cloud to ground lightning strikes and flash flooding are in the outlook. Scattered thunderstorms develop on Wednesday. A few of these storms could become strong to severe in the afternoon and evening, mainly south of the Iron Range in northeast MN and in northwest WI. The main hazards would be wind gusts to 50-60 mph and hail up to 1".
Temperatures will continue to warm with chances for showers and storms most days through the weekend, including on the 4th of July. Strong to a few severe storms are possible on Wednesday and over the weekend. The 4th of July will also be hot and humid.
For the 4th of July weekend, several rounds of showers and storms are expected. The best potential for storms will be Friday afternoon into Friday night, with some lingering shower and storm chances into Saturday. Some storms may become strong to severe, with heavy rain possible on Friday and Saturday, as well. Friday will also be hot and humid, with heat indices in the upper 80s to mid 90s for areas away from Lake Superior.
