Cold Front Moving Through the Northeast U.S. Monday; Atmospheric River to Impact the Pacific Northwest Midweek

A cold front will cross the Great Lakes and Northeast U.S. through Monday with gusty winds and areas of rain showers. A strong atmospheric river is expected to move into the Pacific Northwest by midweek bringing a threat for moderate to heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and mountain snows for parts of Washington, Oregon, northern California, and the Sierra Nevada. Overview

A severe thunderstorm complex packing damaging straight-line winds swept across northern Minnesota on July 5, 2016, beginning in the afternoon and ending late in the evening. Damage from the severe thunderstorm winds were reported all along the path of the storm, but the hardest hit areas were Deer River in Itasca County and the Island Lake area just north of Duluth. A private weather station in Normana Township north of Duluth recorded a 71 mph wind gust.
