Storms move into the middle Valley

1:36 p.m.

Storms with large hail and damaging winds have spent the last couple of hours moving across Jim Hogg, Starr and Zapata Counties. You have seen a few updates and clouds are starting to build to the west. You are heading back to your workplace in southeast McAllen, close to the Pharr city limits. It is a strong building but has lots of exterior windows. You hear another Severe Thunderstorm Warning on the radio, the storms are getting closer.

Once you park your car, you check your phone and see this graphic

But by that time it's already 1:51 p.m., the storm has to have moved east at least a little by then! Anytime you access weather information, especially severe weather or hurricane information, it is very important to see WHEN the information is from. In thunderstorms 15 minutes is a long time! EVERY official warning or statement will have a timestamp attached so you know how old it is, look for it!

What's Important?

Remember that severe weather information can grow stale very quickly, make sure you have the most up to date information. Check in with local media, our website, NOAA Weather Radio, or our Facebook and Twitter feeds!
