Storm Impacting the Northwest U.S.; Fire Weather Conditions in Southern California; Severe Weather in the South

A Pacific storm is bringing areas of low elevation rain, moderate to heavy mountain snow, and high winds to the Northwest. Strong Santa Ana winds and very dry conditions are producing elevated to critical fire weather conditions in southern California. These photographs were taken by the survey team of Warning Coordination Meteorologist Barry Goldsmith and Virginia Torres (Willacy County Emergency Management) the morning after Tropical Storm Hermine punched estimated 65 to 72 mph wind gusts across central Willacy County, with Raymondville particularly hard hit as the core of Hermine sliced through around or shortly after 1 AM CDT on the 7th.
