Lake-effect Snow and Whiteout Conditions in the Great Lakes Region; Below-average Temperatures in the East

Heavy lake-effect and lake-enhanced snow will persist downwind of the Great Lakes and produce some whiteout conditions that could cause difficult travel conditions. A coastal low will produce moderate to heavy snow over parts of southern and eastern New England into the afternoon. ...INCREASED RELEASES OUT OF GARRISON DAM...

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has announced a 2000 cubic feet per second increase in discharge from Garrison Dam beginning today. This will put the total release from Garrison Dam at 48,000 cfs. Downstream areas, such as the Bismarck and Mandan area, will see an increase of about 0.3 feet in water levels. Missouri River levels at the Bismarck gage have been between 11.0 and 11.2 feet as of late and this new discharge suggests river stages may range as high as 11.5 ft well into the first half of November.
